I assume the iMacs and air books will get thunderbolt in the next few months. So where does that leave the iPad? Will it always be able to support thunderbolt too? Eventually?

$9,500,000,000 - that's just sitting around in cash with no long term debt. I think Apple's got plenty of "stamina"...

31,100,000,000 is alot of stamina too, I remember when m$oft got in the gaming console business there was a lot of this talk, now look at them, they sell the thing for a loss. Now imagine if they did that for the zune, a 60gb video capable for $150.00. Something to think about.........

In 2005 AT&T was passing out 3G SIMS like raffle tickets in phones that weren't 3G -I need some internal wireless guru to tell if that extra hand-off doesn't make a difference.

    That makes no difference whatsoever.

A 2G phone simply ignores the 3G features of the USIM.

As far as the 2G phone is concerned, 3G doesn't exist. It has no impact on any network (2G or 3G).

Yep, a touch sensitive home button is the way to go. Will act as the unlock button too. It was about time we got rid of that nasty plastic which breaks very easily.

Um no, they do not break very easily. Maybe a gorilla might break it easily.

And yet prices in the Australian Apple Store are still 25% higher than the USA Store. How rude, Apple.

Top end 27" iMac = US$1999, or in the Australian Store, AUD$2299 which at the current exchange rate is about US$2500. Why should we pay more, Apple? If anything, we're closer to China so should pay less on shipping!

Whilst it's slightly better than yesterdays prices, I'm still seriously not happy.
I'd buy one if we got the USA prices.

I agree completely, but we are really paying more than 25%... Consider the AUD is 10% above the USD the Aussie store should be no more than 5% difference compared to the US store.

No mean to troll, but at least HP and Dell if you mention the cost of the USD they'll tend to match it as close as they can. I got a MX14 for the same price as the US store, $1200 Aussie compared to the $2299 on the Australian Alienware site. Still the minus being no Mac OSX, though it does have Redhat :o

    That low price sells?

According to your past posts, selling phones at a low price ($49 in this case) is a sign of desperation, of an attempt to flood the market.

Heck, that's far cheaper than BOGO sales for other handsets where two people have sign long contracts.

Or, could it just possibly be that people aren't always swayed just by price? That the device itself could be a major factor?

Are there any carriers not giving away at least one free Android phone...

None for me, thanks. It will cost a premium for the same panel, it will yellow within two weeks, have tons of light leaks, and I'll probably have to used a tethered jail break just to make it play the movies that I want to play. Oh, and it will STILL only play 720p. I'll sick with my Samsung, thanks.

The two biggest complaint areas are NY and San Fran. I bet if you took any phone, on any network, and drove around town thru hills and valleys (San Fran) and steel/concrete structures (San Fran and NY), you would have the same drop rate.

Physics is physics. Wireless signals do not like to propagate through steel, concrete, tinted windows, passing Semi's, etc.

Hi everyone, just joined the team.
I have an iMac core duo going at it. She isn't much with her 1.83Ghz but it'll be at it 24h a day. It's about to complete it's first WU after 1day 19hours. It sounds a bit long to me compared to the times a say reading the thread, is this normal?

Glad to have y... oh, did someone else already say that...

Well Google I/O conference sold out in 59 Minutes! (https://twitter.com/vicgundotra/status/34680121109516288#)

    The difference being:
    1. 1/3 the price at $450.
    2. Google gives all attendees an Android phone.
    3. A scalper bought a huge portion of the tickets to resell. Apple does not let you transfer tickets. You must check-in at the registration desk with government issued ID (4th year attending).

So we agree that their lawsuit isn't "a specific claim against a specific model". ;)

No. They made specific claims against specific models. It's just that a few of the claims are against lines of products. But others are much more specific.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?

    http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2173844,00.asp

The bottleneck is (or can be) USB 2.0. Most people who worry about RPM aren't buying hard drives to be placed in external USB drives. Internal drives run on the faster SATA interface. Also, RAID enclosures makes the difference even greater, as you can access data faster.
